Installation of Digiexam in an Intune Managed Environment

This guide will demonstrate how to configure and roll out the Digiexam client application for students using Intune as the cloud based management system for your student devices. In this guide you will find instructions on how to automatically install Digiexam on Macbook and Windows laptops as well as make Digiexam available in your company portal should you choose to use this as a way for students to access. Click on the links below to find out more information about each type of management scenario.

Configuration of Digiexam as a Windows App

In this section you will find information about configuration and deployment of the Digiexam client application as a "new" MS Store app as well as a "line of business" app.

Configuring Digiexam as a "New" MS Store App

Navigate to your app section in your Intune environment and underneath "All apps" you should add a new application (figure 1).

In the window that appears, click upon the app type of "Microsoft Store app (new)" from the dropdown menu that appears and then choose "select" to begin configuring your MS Store app.

In the app information tab that displays you will need to search the MS Store to find Digiexam. Click "Search the Microsoft Store app (new)" to bring up a search field. Here you can type in "Digiexam" and choose it as the app you would like to configure (figure 2 & 3).

The application's settings will display and you can now begin to configure how the Digiexam app will be installed on students' managed devices. If your organization prefers to have a system wide installation you will need to select "System" corresponding to the install behavior, otherwise the application will install to individual user profiles (figure 4).

Be aware that this installation may require individuals to have administrator privileges on their devices in order to run the Digiexam application, as the app will need to save data and make changes to the local device to function as intended. You may wish to use the .msi installation of Digiexam instead if this occurs.

Lastly configure the assignment of the Digiexam application by adding groups, users and/or devices to deploy the app correctly (figure 5). Contact us at support@digiexam.com if you encounter issues.

If the configuration is correct you can create the application and it will be deployed to student devices at this point.

Configuring Digiexam as a Line-of-business App

Navigate to the app section in your Intune environment and underneath "All apps" you should add a new application (figure 5 & 6). In the window that appears, click upon the app type of "Line-of-business app" from the dropdown menu that appears and then choose "Select" to begin configuring your application.

Line-of-business applications require an install file, and at this point make sure you have downloaded the Digiexam .msi file. Use this file to begin configuring the Digiexam application (figure 7).

The application's settings will display and you can now begin to configure how the Digiexam app will be installed on students' managed devices. The application will install to individual user profiles (figure 8) meaning that the app will be installed in the user's program files folder automatically and will not require administrator permissions to run.

You may wish to configure whether or not the app version is ignored so as to only run the version of Digiexam included in the .msi file. We recommend selecting "No" under "Ignore app version" to allow for auto-updates, making sure that you are always using the latest and most up to date version of Digiexam (figure 8).

This .msi configuration does not require any further configuration aside from including the publisher (Digiexam) name.

Lastly configure the assignment of the Digiexam application by adding groups, users and/or devices to deploy the app correctly (figure 9). Contact us at support@digiexam.com if you encounter issues.
