Text to speech - How to use and adding voices and languages

Add voices and languages:

Text to speech works for the questions in the exam, as well as for the text written by the student.

In the new app, text to speech currently does not work on web pages or other media links included in the exam. We are working on adding support for this in the future.

NOTE! If a student  uses headphones (wired or wireless), these need to be connected before the exam starts for it to work during the exam.

In the top left corner next to the settings icon you will see a speaking figure (Figure 1). If you press this icon while you have text marked, it will then be read out loud. Text to speech is also possible on PDF documents and websites.

The standard voice is English when you start Digiexam, but you can change this in settings. With Windows and Mac/iPad you have access to following languages: *English, French, German, Spanish.
(*Official support on Chromebook is only for English, additional languages are not tested due to lack of support from Chromebook)

It is also possible to get a slower voice by pulling the slider towards the tortoise, and faster if you pull it towards the hare. You can also have the text read out loud when pressing [Alt] + [A] when you have text selected, so you don't always need to press the speaking figure every time. To use another voice or language, select the one you want and then press Save.
