Digiexam offers a solution for both on-campus and remote exams. The Remote Proctoring add-on is an integrated tool in the DigiExam client and allows an additional layer of reliability for remote exams. You can use an existing exam and add the Remote Proctoring with just one click in the exam settings.
The school or organization decides how the Remote Proctoring features will be configured and used during exams. Depending on which settings are enabled, different data will be processed by DigiExam. The ability to choose how to configure the Remote Proctoring tool is there to meet the variety of data protection requirements that a school or organization might have.
What does the DigiExam Proctoring service do?
It offers an automated proctoring tool integrated into the DigiExam platform with behavioural trackers such as monitoring the webcam, audio and exam feed to ensure exam integrity.
Remote Proctoring offers:
- DigiExam Client Lockdown
- Identity Verification
- Live Monitoring
- Exam Session Recording
- Credibility Report
- Offline Support
A school or organisation using Remote Proctoring for an exam can share the proctoring view to all users (Teachers, Invigilators, Exam Administrators) with the rights to monitor the students in the exam overview.
When the exam has ended, only users with rights to grade the exam (Teachers and Exam Administrators) has access to the Remote Proctoring view.
The Remote Proctoring tool opens in a new browser, where you can access all students in the exam feed.
How does the Remote Proctoring tool work?
Identity Verification
There are two levels of Identity Verification for students in proctored exams, Face photo and Photo-ID
Face photo takes a high-resolution photo of the student taking the exam. The image is used to match against the student profile in the proctoring view.
The Photo-ID takes a high-resolution photo of the student's photo-ID or passport
Live Monitoring

The session recording can be reviewed later by anyone with access to the exam in DigiExam. Toggle between the face and screen focus in the recorded session with all automated flags visible in the timestamp.
- The student profile can be reviewed with the attached Identity Verification photos
- Rate the student and download a Credibility report
- Change playback speed
In addition to the main Session report, you can also download a PDF version of the report. The PDF report includes the student’s profile and photo, a session card, distribution of events and an average rating of the exam.
Offline Support
The remote proctoring tool notifies a student if the network is down and temporary caches the recorded exams during shorter periods of time.
Additional information regarding offline procedures can be entered in the Public Exam description and be visible for the students at any time of the exam.
- Live feed is stopped during the offline period
- The recording of the camera, screen and microphone is still active and is automatically uploaded when the student is online again.
If the student is offline in the exam, the first notification is shown after app. 15 seconds. No action is needed from the student since it could be a temporary issue with the network
If the student continues to be offline, the notification turns red after app.10 seconds more. The student should then proceed according to the procedure decided by the school.
