It is crucial that an account manager at the school verifies the external tool and ensures that it works in the school's IT environment.
An external tool for a web link in a test can be created by an account manager at the school. This means that a teacher can add a link to a web page in the test, which the students can then access in the locked position.
Unlike the Add Media function where a web link is linked to a specific question by the teacher, the added web link is then linked to the entire test as an external tool.
To add the external tool to the school, it can be named e.g. "External web link" and a suitable icon can be selected.
In this example, no URL will need to be allowed or whitelisted as no login will be required, the teacher will be able to add a public web link to a test.
Two examples, "External Website" and "Youtube" are shown here. They provide an example of how an external tool for public web links can be created and allowed in a test. That is, without giving access to other parts of the web page that is added. Only the teacher's link will be able to be used by the student in the test.
Example 1: External web page
When the account manager creates and adds the external tool "External web page", all that is needed is "Teacher can set / edit landing page".
Example 2: Youtube
When the account manager creates and adds the external tool "Youtube", all you need to do is turn on "Teacher can set / edit landing page".
Lists of allowed websites can be left blank as it is a public web link that will be used and no login will take place.
Checking student equipment is set to Off when not in use with the external tool.
Click Save "External Web Page" to add the external tool.
